Since 2001, VIA has led the industry in the design of energy-efficient x86 platforms enabling a new generation of low power, small form factor computing devices. From thin clients to laptops, desktops and now the new ultra mobile devices, VIA processor platforms have built a reputation for leading performance per watt and cool operation.

The Techno-Footprint '07 event aims to bring together lessons from best practice in environmental sustainability from across the field of public sector ICT. Large ICT systems form a significant, and increasing, part of a modern public sector body's carbon footprint, and all bodies must now work on ways of reducing their impact. Additionally, ICT systems can play a valuable role in reducing organisations' wider carbon footprints, for example by reducing the need for travel through videoconferencing.

With a mind to the looming threat of electricity shortages, as well as the strain that electricity generation places on the environment, for several years VIA has focused on energy efficient products and at the Church House Conference Centre will showcase systems that combine application flexibility and affordability with industry leading low power consumption and a media rich feature set. Energy efficient computers with low power consumption not only reduce electricity costs, but considerably reduce temperature increases caused by ICT operation, making working environments more comfortable.
